VA Announces New Rules about Service Animals in Its Facilities

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has revised its regulation regarding the presence of animals on VA property. The update will ensure VA practices comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other federal laws. It will also help VA personnel better understand what is meant by “service animals.” Under the revised regulation, only dogs that are trained to perform work or tasks for people with disabilities will be considered service animals.
